Green Popper

Green Popper front view

Don was a master fly tyer who taught me how to tie flies when I was at the ripe old age of four. He gave me this popper shortly before he passed away last year.

The head was carved and painted by hand, the tail is made of duck feathers and flash-a-boo, and the body is wrapped in a green hackle feather. When I first started tying flies with Don I never thought It would leave such a lasting impression.

Don really found joy in what he did, and I believe that’s what made him such wonderful teacher. He was a generous man who never missed the opportunity to share a little wisdom.
