ALICE WALTON: Julie Mehretu is another favorite artist of mine. She's Ethiopian-born and lives in the US where most of her work has been completed. Julie has her own brand of modern art, contemporary art, and I love the linear nature and the entanglement and the friction in her works. I've gotten to live with this piece in my home for many years, and I hope you will spend some time really just looking at the friction, the color, and feeling where it takes you.Mehretu's work is particularly related to architecture, and that's all the lines and the linear connectivity, and it's part of what I love so much. She's a highly accomplished, celebrated, and much sought-after American artist of today.
