Secretary and Chocolate Set

The Secretary was made by my Father during his early career as an industrial arts instructor in East Tennessee. This is one of several pieces of furniture that he made. Another major piece is a walnut dining table that folds down on the side.

The Chocolate Set was painted by my Mother. She took up china painting after retiring as an elementary school teacher. She painted many pieces. While working as a forester, I would collect thorns from Hawthorn trees for her and her classmates. The thorns would be used to apply gold and pigments to the china before firing.
